To meet the expectations of enterprises and to achieve the goals proposed by the EU for the 2020 horizon in terms of labour competitiveness, it is imperative to update existing courses, in general, and those related with middle managers of the construction sector, in particular.

These professionals are presupposed to have a combination of expertise, specifically, autonomy, creativity and responsibility, which are increasingly demanded by enterprises in this industry.

Indeed, the ConstructyVET European Project aims to adapt existing training courses to unavoidable changes involved in the labour market and to the adequacy required in the professional preparation.

Soft skills

For that purpose, by means of ConstructyVET the elaboration of a transnational action plan will be carried out for the development of soft skills (communication, leadership, organisation, etc.) of middle manager in the construction sector, such as the person in charge, the team leader or the Work Site Supervisor.

Previously, these professional functions will be reviewed through the analysis of the labour market profiles and the employment offer, and after this study a transnational report will be written, which will be one of the first results of the fieldwork.

The Project focuses on a training itinerary proposal, which lead to a 4 and 5 EQF (European Qualifications Framework) qualification level for middle managers –team leaders and persons in charge – who will be adjusted to labour requirement demands. This itineraries will be proved and validated following a common methodology for a better adaptation of European paths of Vocational Education and Training (VET) with the expectation of the enterprise.

“Education and Training 2020” Strategy

The initiative will facilitate the implementation of fixed goals in the “Education and Training 2020” strategy, such as:

  • To enhance training systems and enterprises inclusion and prioritization of work-linked training courses.
  • To improve competitiveness of the enterprise, through a better training of middle managers and the socio-economic integration of young people looking for a professional career.
  • To optimize employability and mobility of trainees.
